Assistant Director
Emily Law has worked in many facets of state government over the past twenty-five years. Since 2006, she has been associated with the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs’ Director’s Office working closely with the Director in assisting the rural areas of Alabama with economic development. In addition to recently being appointed to serve as the Assistant Director of the Alabama Rural Action Commission, she is the Coordinator for the Black Belt Action Commission. In this capacity, she assists with project coordination and implementation, marketing, and public relations of the thirteen committees that make up the Commission.
Prior to this, Emily worked with ADECA’s Energy Division assisting Alabamians with Low Income Home Energy Assistance and Weatherization Programs. Prior to coming to ADECA, she worked with the Alabama Alcoholic Beverage and Control Board for 15 years.
In addition to being selected to serve in the fifth “Advance Leaders” Regional Leadership Development Course sponsored by the Delta Regional Authority, she is agency representative to the Governor’s Task Force to Strengthen Alabama Families which focuses on reaching out to low-income residents of the State of Alabama regarding assistance programs available to them through Family Resource Centers throughout the state.
Emily is a graduate of Troy State University Montgomery with a Bachelor of Business and Resource Management degree. She is a past President, Vice President and Secretary of the Alabama State Employees’ Association, current Vice President of her Neighborhood Watch Association and secretary of the Elmore County Historical Society and Museum. She volunteers for her local Chamber of Commerce, is an active member of the Greater Wetumpka Civitan Club and served as the 2009 Fundraising Chairperson for a county-wide health fair sponsored by the Wetumpka Friends Organization. She is also active in her local church. She is married to William Errol Law, Alabama Power Company and Army National Guard retiree. They have two children and three grandchildren.
